How Many Bricks Do You Need per Square Metre?
Brick quantity is based on the face size of the brick as laid, including the mortar joint. Supplier estimates are useful, but your wall dimensions and selected product provide a better project estimate.

Measure the net wall area
Multiply wall length by height, then subtract measured door and window openings. For several walls, calculate each section and combine the net areas. Keep all dimensions in the same unit.
Use the installed brick size
Add the planned mortar joint to the brick length and height before calculating the face area. Divide one square metre by that installed face area to estimate units per square metre. Different stock, maxi and concrete masonry units produce different quantities.
Allow for site waste
Add an allowance for cuts, breakage and layout. Simple walls may need less extra material than walls with many corners or openings. Round purchasing quantities up and confirm pack or pallet sizes with the supplier.
