The Brick, Block & Mortar Formula

Brick and block quantities in South Africa are based on a fixed coverage rate per square metre for each unit type, so the calculation is a straightforward multiplication.

How are brick and block quantities calculated?

A double-skin, or full-brick, wall is built as two layers of brick and measures roughly 220mm thick, and is used for external load-bearing walls that need to carry the weight of a roof or upper floor.
