Interlocking Pavers: Coverage, Pallets and Supplier Checks

Interlocking paving quantities depend on installed product coverage and the number of units in the purchase pack. A paver’s name or thickness alone cannot tell you how many pallets to buy. Use the paving bricks calculator with the figures for your selected product.

Start with installed coverage

Interlocking pavers have shaped sides, so multiplying their overall length by width may not describe their installed module accurately. Ask for the manufacturer’s pavers per m² at the intended joint arrangement. Enter that number using supplier coverage in the calculator. Do not add a second joint gap to a rate that already describes installed coverage.

Why 50 pavers per m² is an example

Some 200 × 100 mm interlocking products are published at 50 units/m², but this is not a rule for all interlockers. Different shapes and modules need their own rate. The calculator starts at an editable example of 50. Replace it when the selected product specifies a different coverage. Thickness mainly describes the vertical dimension; it does not by itself determine surface coverage.

Check pallets separately

Packs can vary by factory, product and supplier. Never assume every pallet contains 500 bricks. Confirm whether the quote sells individual units, full packs or a stated area. If a quote gives pack area and units per m², multiply them to check the expected units per pack, then ask the supplier to resolve any discrepancy before ordering.

Worked purchasing example

Suppose a measured patio has 40 m² of paving and the chosen product specifies 50 pavers/m². At an example waste allowance of 5%, the requirement is 2,100 pavers. A hypothetical pack of 504 units needs five full packs, supplying 2,520 units. Buying individual units may produce a different purchase quantity. These numbers demonstrate the arithmetic and are not a quotation.

Comparing Cashbuild or another supplier

Keep the net area and waste allowance the same when comparing results. Match the exact profile, colour, thickness and purchase unit on the quote. A product dimension listing does not confirm its pack count, delivered availability or final price. Ask about delivery charges, offloading, damaged units, spare stock and returns. 99Tools is independent of Cashbuild and other retailers.

Quantity does not specify the paving design

Confirm the base, edge restraints, drainage, loading and laying instructions for the job. A surface quantity cannot establish whether a paver is suitable for vehicles or whether the ground preparation is adequate. Bedding sand and jointing sand serve different purposes and must not be treated as one automatic material allowance.

Frequently asked questions

How many paving bricks do I need per m²?

Use the installed coverage for your selected product. A 200 × 100 mm rectangle with no additional gap gives 50 units/m² geometrically, but shaped products and joint arrangements can differ.

Can I use this as an interlocking paving bricks calculator?

Yes. Select supplier coverage and enter the manufacturer’s installed pavers per m². Do not calculate a shaped interlocker from its rectangular bounding dimensions.

Is this the Cashbuild paving bricks calculator?

No. This is an independent 99Tools calculator. You can enter product coverage and pack quantities from a Cashbuild quote or another supplier.

How many paving bricks are in a pallet?

There is no universal pallet quantity. Enter the count on the exact product quote, or enter zero for individual-unit purchasing.

Does the calculator include sand and installation costs?

It shows installed bedding volume at your entered depth. It does not calculate loose sand delivery, jointing sand, installation charges or a complete paving budget.
