Premix Concrete Prices and Product Checks
Compare complete premix bag quotes using finished yield, pack quantity and delivery, rather than bag price alone.

Compare the exact product
Record the supplier item, contents, intended application, bag mass and declared finished yield. A low bag price is not useful if the item is aggregate only or is a mortar or screed product unsuitable for the planned concrete work. Product suitability and the required concrete specification come before price comparisons.
Calculate price per finished volume
Divide price per bag by finished m³ per bag. For a hypothetical R100 bag yielding 20 litres, the nominal equivalent is R5,000/m³ before delivery and other costs. This is an arithmetic example, not a current South African price or a ready-mix supply rate. Different bag yields can change the comparison even when package mass is the same.
Price the purchase after rounding
If a job needs 210 litres at an example 20 litres per bag, the minimum is 11 bags. At a hypothetical R100 per bag, that is R1,100 before delivery. If whole packs require purchasing 20 bags instead, materials cost R2,000. Compare the order actually available, not only the fractional theoretical requirement.
Builders and local store checks
For Builders Warehouse or another local supplier, confirm the exact item and branch quote, current stock, pack terms, tax basis and delivery. 99Tools is independent and does not load live prices near you. Foreign city names or trailer-rental businesses in search results do not establish a matching South African product or delivery service.
Mixing and working time
Use the manufacturer’s water amount and procedure for the selected product. Added water is not its yield, and initial set is not the same as cured strength or moisture readiness for a finish. The calculator does not choose a structural mix or a universal loading time. Plan labour and placement around the actual product and project requirements.
Compare with ready-mix on equal scope
A bag-material rate per m³ excludes transport, handling, mixing labour, plant, losses and installation. A ready-mix quote can have minimum loads, part-load fees, pumping and timing conditions. Compare the same required finished volume and specification with all relevant costs included before deciding which supply route is economical.

Frequently asked questions
How many bags of premix concrete do I need?
Divide the required finished litres, including any agreed allowance once, by the actual finished litres per bag. Round up full bags and any required packs.
How much concrete does a 40 kg premix bag make?
Use the exact product’s declared finished yield. A 40 kg mass does not establish a universal number of litres or identify a complete concrete product.
How many bags of premix concrete make one m³?
Calculate 1,000 ÷ finished litres per bag and round up for purchasing, adding any required allowance only once. At a hypothetical 20 litres per bag, one m³ needs 50 bags before allowance.
How much area does one premix bag cover?
Divide its finished volume by the specified depth in metres. Coverage changes with thickness; the calculator does not choose a suitable slab depth.
How much does premix concrete cost per m³?
The equivalent material rate is your bag price divided by finished m³ per bag. It excludes delivery and installation and is not a live ready-mix price.
Is a Builders building mix automatically complete concrete?
No. Check the exact product contents and instructions. Cement, aggregate-only blends, mortar, screed and complete concrete premix are not interchangeable.
How long does premix concrete take to set?
Follow the selected product’s instructions and site conditions. Setting, curing, strength gain and drying are different; a single bag weight cannot establish a universal waiting time.
