How to Use the Trip Cost per Person Calculator
Equal share = shared trip costs ÷ people. Weighted share = shared costs × individual weight ÷ total weights. Days mode uses weight × days as the sharing unit. Add each person’s personal costs and subtract their payments.

How to use the trip cost per person calculator
Build the trip total with the Travel Budget or Road Trip Cost calculator first. Enter shared costs and extras. Add people, days, agreed share weights, personal costs and payments. Choose equal, weights or days with weights.
Worked example (illustration only)
R22 000 shared by four people is R5 500 each. With two adult weights of 1 and two child weights of 0.5, shares are R7 333.33, R7 333.33, R3 666.67 and R3 666.67 after rounding. Example only.
What the result includes
Days mode applies to the whole shared subtotal. If only accommodation or food depends on days, split those categories separately and combine the results. Names and payments stay in this browser. Deposits are excluded from spending.
Who owes whom
Share minus paid is the remaining contribution; a negative value is money owed to that person. When payments cover the full cost, the result suggests transfers from people who owe to people who overpaid. Final cents are distributed so allocations reconcile.
